One of the very first things I look for when finding a new game is a hot female main character... I figure if I'm going to stare at an ass for a considerable about of time, it should be an attractive one. If that was the ONLY principle I looked for, Bayonetta would be the best game EVER.
This game is a button mashing extravaganza available for both PS3 and 360 from the same guys that brought you “Devil May Cry” and “Veiwtiful Joe.”
Bayonetta turns into animals, uses weapons and magical attacks to rip angels (Yep, I said angels) apart. We have your standard issue Matrix bullet time mode along for the ride. There are also “climax attacks,” in which her hair becomes possessed by a demon and destroys larger monsters similar to a fatality in “Mortal Kombat” with out the messy button combos.
As far as a story goes, she awakens after a 500 year nap and finds herself in an unfamiliar area with no memories of who or what she is. Over time, she begins to remember and starts kicking ass. For some reson angels want her dead, but i never really understood why besides the fact she is a witch.
The game is very very pretty. Bayonetta herself looks amazing almost TOO amazing and the developers know it. Every cutscene they manage to throw a few very provocative shots in. The Character is dressed like a naughty, leather clad librarian.
The design of the angels Bayonetta fights against are very creepy... half roman architecture, half evil bird people. I like it. I never really thought of angels being the pretty boys everyone else makes them out to be.
The voice acting is cheesy but good. Bayonetta sounds like a dirty Mary Poppins most of the time.
Overall, I think this is a good game. Anyone can pick it up and play. Almost any button combo unleashes a brutal combo.
The only thing I can say I disliked was the music. Almost every fight in the game plays the same japanese pop song. Catchy at first, super annoying over time.
