Dead & Company was formed in 2015 when the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir joined forces with artist and musician John Mayer, Allman Brothers’ bassist Oteil Burbridge, and Fare Thee Well and RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti. The result was one of the most successful touring bands of the decade. The inaugural tour kicked off in the fall of 2015 with two sold-out shows at the legendary Madison Square Garden and ending the year with two sold-out performances at the ‘Fabulous’ Forum in Inglewood, California.

Since then, the band has gone on to complete three record-breaking U.S. tours, performing to more than a million fans. The 2017 summer tour, which lasted from the end of May through the first of July, drew in nearly 500,000 fans and consisted of 20 concerts, including two-night stands at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Shoreline Amphitheatre in San Francisco, Folsom Field in Boulder, Colo., Fenway Park in Boston, and Wrigley Field in Chicago. The back-to-back sold out shows in Chicago drew in over 80,000 fans and set the ballpark’s all-time record for most tickets sold for a single concert (43,600).

Fans and music critics alike continue to praise Dead & Company’s live performances:

“The planets themselves were in alignment, and all was right with the world last night in Camden. Throughout the epic, nearly four-hour experience, the entire amphitheater was buzzing… a band that pays all the respect in the world to the history and legacy of The Grateful Dead while still barreling forward, eyes wide open, into the future..” – Asbury Park Press

“As did the group’s corresponding show last summer, this one proved a forceful musical statement that revealed the ensemble performing somewhere near its peak.” – Boston Globe

“It was a mostly magical trip back into the Dead zone.” – Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

“It is clear to see the new reincarnation for The Grateful Dead still has as strong a pull as ever.” – National Rock review

“Last night saw the group truly dialed into one another, hitting their groove, and putting on an electric show… With a non-stop five-song sequence opening the first set, from the get-go, Dead & Company came ready to play.” – Live For Live Music

“…delivered its special magic last night.” – The Columbus Dispatch

“From the beginning, the entire band was locked in, transitioning through songs with ease and with a heightened sense of urgency to their playing.” – Albany Times-Union

I can’t speak to the other people entering this contest. Regardless, I should win.
    Here’s why:
    1. I really want to win.
    2. While I cannot speak to others, I will say this much: I want it more than them.
    C. I won’t make it to this show without free tickets (lame. I know).
    4. I forgot what it feels like to win (sad. again… I know).

I need these because first off my girlfriend hasn’t been to a dead show yet and my Mom and my brothers family is going to be there and it would be cool to see the dead again with my Mother. She took me to my first show.

Soooo I should win because my mom is a DEAD HEAD. She moved to California when she was 18 and followed them around for 2 years. I grew up hearing stoires and listening to the grateful dead. 2 years ago i was able to take her to the dead and company at kilpsh, first time seeing them in 27 years. She ran into some old friends and emotions flew. She never gets to go out because her health but if I won I would take her. She’d cry. Pick me pick me.

Here is why I think I should win tickets. I never got to see the dead live and I have never been to a Dead and Co show. So this would be my first Dead show. In other words you would be giving me the greatest miracle ever.

Pleeeeeeze let me win these!!! I am dying to see Jason Mraz play with Jerry! I saw him last year and it was grate (or on fleek using the parlance of our times). Jerry has lost so much weight and sounds amazing. Also, to Mraz’s credit, how cool is it for a young musician to let these old performers play and tour with him, and pump new blood into their fan base. Come ‘ on, and give a REAL Dead & Co. fan chance.
    **EDIT**
I was informed that Jason Mraz goes by the stage name Johnny Mayer now! Idk why, but thought I’d share. Hope this is creative enough. I just love muzak

Picture this….. July 1995…… thousands of dirty hippies gather at Deer Creek for a celebration of life, freedom, happiness , community and music. A few Anxious heads get aggressive and aggravated and decide to crash through the fence and instill a bad vibe on the night. The band played on with a smoking set list and songs of love filled the air.
Fast forward to June 2018….. thousands of hippies and non hippies converge at a place formerly known as Deer Creek… and no one really knows or cares what the name is now A beautiful thing happens when the band starts to play and it doesn’t matter who you are… where you’re from… whether you saw Jerry or are there to see Sexy Jerry aka John Mayer ….. we all become one with the sweet sounds of music filling the air. ❤️❤️

Hey! My first show *ever* was my mom taking me to see the grateful dead at deer creek when Jerry was still alive! I’ve only ever been to the dead once since, and never made it off the lot haha. So I’d love the chance to recreate the magic of where it all began!!

My husband and I bought our tickets in April. On Mother’s Day, May 13th, our 9 YEAR OLD daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I’m also a Type 1, which is made it easier, but she is still bummed about taking shots all the time. She is also a big Dead & Co./Grateful Dead fan! Her favorite song by them is “Going Down The Road” right now which is completely appropriate for current circumstances. I was THINKING about bringing her….more or less because no one else knows how to take care of her diabetes yet, but I’d be on the phone with my mom all night giving directions. Lol It’d be pretty darn cool to score a free ticket, and I know she would freak out about it. She just got a dancing bear belt the other day and was THRILLED. :) Ah! Pick us! We need a win! :)
